I posted the last one in Jan, and spring is coming now. As we shouted on Facebook and Twitter recently, HOTEL MEXICO new 7inch is to be released from UK label Double Denim Records in April!!! We've been playing both 2 songs in live since last summer, so you may know them. It always happens to bands and labels that it took a bit long time to announce the new release since they had made it. This was the first case for us, now we are so excited that we 'break this out in good weather' indeed. You check the sleeve of this item above, WE LOVE IT. It's also the first time anyone created our item's artwork. We are glad such a good one came up!! This is 300 copies limited, please grab your own one!

8月アタマから毎週末詰め込んだsummer showsも今月の3日で終わりました。 来てくれた皆さん本当にありがとうございます！ 途中から新曲をセットに入れたりして、一月ちょっとをとても楽しむことが出来ました。 だけど僕らは夏にしか活動しないバンドではないので、ちゃんと次も決まっています！！ 9月3日に一緒にやったCuz Me Painと、更にLove Actionも迎えて京都でちょっと大きめにやります！ 第一部のLIVEに関してはこの日が活動休止前ラストになるAAPS、新譜リリース直後となるTBA といったメンツを迎えてやるのをHOTEL MEXICOも楽しみにしています。 第二部もSecond Royal × Cuz Me Pain × Love Actionが三者ともフルのメンツで入り乱れるので、 本当に、どうなるんでしょうね。 これだけ見どころが多い上に予想がつかないのでとても楽しみです。 17時からの第一部と23時からの第二部に分けてやります。 3連休の中日、楽しみに来てください！！！
We've finished the five weekends summer shows starts at the beginning of Augst. Thanks very much for all who came those places, we enjoyed them a lot. We were glad to debut 2 new songs during this summer shows. Of course we are not the band works only in summer, we've got the another date. We will do another big night in Kyoto with the label Cuz Me Pain who we did a final date of summer shows together in Tokyo, and the label Love Action. It has some unmissable acts then. AAPS from Cuz Me Pain will do a final gig before they are taking break, and The Brixton Academy will just have released their 2nd 'Bright As Diamonds'. Besides, it's like all star DJs from Second Royal, Cuz Me Pain, Love Action are gathering. I can't guess what will happen!! Bands to play for the first half starts from 17:00, and DJs plays in the second half starts from 23:00.

去年の秋に東京と京都でやったCuz Me Painとのイベントをこの夏にも出来ることになりました！！
みんなで夏にはやろう、って言ってたのでやっとアナウンス出来て嬉しいです。

こうやって一緒にイベント出来るのは去年の11月末以来です。

the last post about ELELEL show in Osaka was the last one to fill up our summer shows in August. but, we have no doubt that the beginning of September is still hot. so, this show in the first weekend in September is the finish of our summer show round. its 3rd time that Cuz Me Pain and HOTEL MEXICO do an event together. we did 2 shows in Tokyo and Kyoto last autumn, and we all enjoyed them very much. so I'm really glad to announce this show today, coz we have been talking about do this event again since last time. I'm sure it'll be awsome night this time again!!!! We, ourselves, are expecting much for it, please come down to have a big fun.

This is the Osaka show I wrote last time. We don't really doing gigs in Osaka, it's 3rd time this time. and, ELELEL, which is the first Osaka event booked us, gave us a love call again for their 7th Anniversary! It runs 8pm-midnight because of stupid Osaka govener don't like people enjoy things after midnight. It would be opportunity for people not into events run through the night. You are the person love the sun after all night dancing, good luck. We WILL enjoy it anyway!
sorry for this gap as usual. since last post, there was that Gorilla and Bear did Les action in the very early morning in Japanese time. We are very happy more people had got a chance to know us then, and had more new listeners after that. We didn't any gig since our last show @ clubasia, 27th Mar. So both you and band have got frustrated for half a year. But it's already summer you know, cicadas -some people really don't know this insect- are noisey. then, we've got these summer shows now!! 3 of them are announced today. you choose which or all to go. There is even our first outdoor show in it!!

And, from 9th Mar, you can't buy Limited Edition. If you want that Limited Edition with Nites Mix CD and poster, please have it till then.
I was just surprised when I heard this Standard Edition's release first time. But knowing this title is available from big music stores like this or this or this makes me feel like, "wow, are they sure!". TOWER RECORD's free paper called bounce featuring HOTEL MEXICO interview and disc review on this issue. It's free of course, please get your own copy at TOWER RECORD stores!

As Coachella announced 2011 line up, we announce our dates on Feb and Mar. We've already told about STYROFOAM Japan tour, we have a few more dates in Osaka, Nagoya and Kyoto. What I say now is, you shouldn't be disappointed by checking just headliners of Coachella. You would find many fantastic names in those smaller letters. and, notice that official Coachella page is heavy.

I had enough year-end parties and have finished this year already, but HOTEL MEXICO first live in January is still fresh memory for me. We were noted as HOTEL NEW MEXICO in Infomations then, I was worrying if we really can play there. We all wore white rain coats on stage, and were sure white rain coats become a hot popular item among girls from the next day. But we haven't seen such girls in town, even in rainy days.

It's expensive one, actually. This was too quality rain coat to be good costume.
I couldn't go to gigs this year, even Black Lips, had a cold which I rarely have then. But WOODS / REAL ESTATE in November was great, especially WOODS. Simply, their merodies were my type. Folky sound with ambient voice-strings was amazing. Though it's a bit late, WOODS record became my most favourite this year.
A voice-strings guy is sitting at the centre of the stage. Only people at the front can see him, we wonder if they've got another member after the gig.
What the most important thing this year for me is, I've bought my road bike in May. Words to describe it are only Cool and Fantastic, better than WOODS, to be honest. Everybody knows that we must have road bikes because riding it make you feel like flying through the air and it's really good exercise. But, only our bassist Kai gives me a lecture like what the point is how city bikes are usefull in every scene of our daily lives and how sweet fresh vegis are, blah blah blah. So, I switch his poor city bike's tires to big eels next time. Anyway, I'm organizing KCC -Kyoto Cycling Club- and new comers are welcome.

This is my lovely machine, at the Yodo River in August. It was 38℃ then and an elderly lady had passed out on the street. 2 scally boys helped her later. You proud scallies in your town.

6th asia beauty expo という美容ショーレースに出場するチームに楽曲提供をしました。 日本、韓国、中国あたりからインドネシアくらいを思わせる曲で４回転調してほしいとの
I did a music for a team which participated the beauty competition called 6th Asia Beauty Expo @ Pacifico Yokohama in May. They wanted a song which has oriental feeling and modulate 4 times in a song. I worked hard to complete this so complicated theme and be in the very short deadline with my friend Nakashima who was in charge for movie. We had only 2 days actually. Peformers said the song wasn't really along the theme, but has matched with the stage direction. I couldn't be there, but I heard this competition was popular. And, the next performance to the team I did a music for was avex (Japanese posh record company) team, R.I.P my team.

Gavin Salmon is the drummer of Inc.(ex Teen Inc.), and working with other musicians. I like His tight and heavey beats due to his well build pectral muscles and arms. His muted explosive sound of snare drum as well. His way to be in rhythm by breathing is another cool point. He is featured well in this movie in which he plays for Nite Jewel.
Thomas Hedlund 今年という趣旨からは少しずれますが、どうしても外せないので挙げさせてもらいます。 彼はPhoenixのサポートドラマーとしてよく知られています。 彼のかっこよさは、強靭な首があるからこそできる頭の振りです。 Phoenixのライブで見せる 自分の脳をシェイクしているかのようなパフォーマンスはアガリます。
Thomas Hedlund is not my favourite "in 2010", but I just can't leave him out of this topic. He is well known for supporting Phoenix. What the point is, head banging due to his strong neck. On Phoenix's live, you can see that he plays like shaking his own brain, it excites me very much.

I'm pretty sure that what the my most favourite this year is Ariel Pink. I've known his works before that, not this year, though. I can't stop loving all his songs. He is big figure for me now. And now I'm talking about songs I'm listening really often when I'm in my room alone.
First, Vencent Gallo. I always listen to "When", my friend said I'm crazy one time. This is Vencent Gallo covers Moon River, but it doesn't matter which song to pick up. coz I LOVE them all. and yes, I'm OK, my ears works well.
次はThe Rolling StonesのStuck Out All Alone。この曲もかっこいいからすごく聴いてます。
Second, Stuck Out All Alone - The Rolling Stones. This is the great one too. I'm listening to it often.
And, CVLTS. GOOD. We can't rate it, can't say this sounds good or bad, because 2nd song is titled Microrangers for this sound, can we? I can go into deeper. It's ace.
And, Hype Williams. This song "Chatline" is cool. I realise the reason why it has the sound like crying at the begining of the song when I watched this movie at once. I DONT care what I got is right or not at all. I'm listening to it and crying in the bed when I sleep.
At last, Hadaka-no-Rallizes (Les Rallizes Dénudés). I don't know why I listen this song throughout this year. This has "Love is only one remove from Madness"-ish feeling. This is NOT for kids I think. When I listen it in the morning, my body dosen't work well all day. Lovely. I could find a movie of this song, but you can listen it here.

Leave Everywhere - Toro y Moi 今年はバンド活動の機会が増えていろんなとこでいろんな音楽に触れる機会がある中、 下半期は特に能動的に情報を集めるのはさぼりがちでした。 夏ぐらいには季節がら浮遊感のある曲をよく聴いてました。 夏が終わったのが信じられないので、今でも聴いてます。 頼りなくも芯があるというか。その中にゆるーい余裕を感じるチープさ、 ブレブレで鳴るギター、わくわくさせるバスドラも素敵です。
As HOTEL MEXICO started, I met genres of music I havn't met ever. I'm enjoying that. In the summer, I was with songs have some fluffy feeling, thought it's seasonal. I'm keep being with them coz I don't believe my summer has gone. This has some firmness in that fluffy feeling, and I love findig that a littie bit confidence in there is the sence of cheapness. Blur guitar and kick drum also excites me.
I knew this song early this year. I was poor then but took only a moment to decide buying this record. Breakbeats drums can easily attract me. Im comfortable with kids voice n soft sound on it. I liked this song's video on Pitchfork, which Totoro-ish man playing songs alone. He is sweet.
Leonis "Sandy Candy" and Pink Playground "Ten" are my favourites too. I knew them on their myspace and searched records but couldn't find them. I WANT BOTH OF THEM.
What I Read 2010 I don't read novels often, but loved Yojo-Han Shinwa Taikei which our drummer Macha lent me. It was better coz I read it and watched Anime in the same period of time. I wonder if there is any man doesn't love Akashi. And I'm getting how to enjoy GOLGO 13 after my work is eased.
Other Favourites Not to go toilet before long-distance transport, and not to put on the emergency brakes when I park cars. People say I must do them, but I can't break these habits. I like telling horror story and riding my bycicle KOKU too. Our guitarist Jiro organizes KCC -Kyoto Cycling Club-, I'm looking forward to go cycling with them.
I wish publicising my songs somehow and making any short film next year. I had most number of new friend in one year in my life, they are all good ones.
